Musician
I started playing the piano at a very young age and then moved on to the church organ. And then there was the flute, and then the piccolo...
But it was in rehearsing and playing for musical theatre that I felt most at home - an accompanist not a soloist!
Speaker and Lecturer
Most of my work has revolved around helping people discover what is so fascinating and engaging in music and particularly in musical theatre and opera. My talks and lectures are all about sharing discoveries and passion, especially if there is a piano on hand for demonstrations.
Cultural historian
Every show tells a different story, and it is never only about what happens on the stage. Works that are often considered as 'just' entertainment reveal so much of the times in which they were created and the distinctive vision of the people who brought them to life. The picture is always bigger than the one on the stage.
